PicoScope 3400 USB Oscilloscopes all feature a high–speed USB 2.0 interface, together with impressive sampling rates, high bandwidths and a very large buffer memory.

These four–channel oscilloscopes simply connect to the USB port on any standard Windows based computer, making full use of your PC’s processing capabilities, large screens and familiar graphical user interfaces. Whether you’re used to traditional benchtop oscilloscopes or modern PC oscilloscopes all scopes in the PicoScope 3000 Series offer outstanding performance and ease of use.

High bandwidth AND high sampling rate
As the front–runner in PC oscilloscope design we know that everyone wants a high bandwidth and a high sampling rate, but not a high price tag. That’s why our high–performance four–channel oscilloscopes with their 60 to 200 MHz bandwidths give you the bandwidth you need at a price you can afford.
Most USB–powered oscilloscopes have real–time sampling rates of only 100 or 200 MS/s. Your PicoScope 3400 offers a market–leading 1 GS/s. ETS mode boosts the maximum effective sampling rate further to 0 GS/s, giving you a more detailed display of repetitive signals.

A huge buffer memory
Other oscilloscopes have high maximum sampling rates, but without deep memory they cannot sustain these rates on long timebases.
Our high–performance four–channel oscilloscopes have buffer memories of up to 128 million samples — more than any other oscilloscope in this price range — so you can always sample at high rates regardless of the timebase. For example, the PicoScope 3406B can sample at 1 GS/s at timebases from 500 ps/div all the way down to 10 ms/div.

Too much to handle?
With impressive sampling rates, high bandwidths and large buffer memory you might be wondering how can you handle all the data that your PicoScope oscilloscope provides? Thanks to the power of PicoScope it isn’t a problem: a maximum zoom factor of 100 million combined with our industry–leading zoom controls means you can see every last detail of your waveform with ease. And thanks to our segmented memory the old problem of seeing a glitch on the screen only for it to vanish before you stop the scope is no more — now each captured waveform is stored in the buffer so you can rewind and review up to 10,000 previous waveforms. If you don’t want to manually check 10,000 waveforms then use the power of the software to do it for you. Select one waveform that is in specification and then use the mask limit tools to scan through the rest, highlighting any that fail.

Dependable signal integrity
Most oscilloscopes are built down to a price; ours are built up to a specification.
Careful front–end design and shielding reduces noise, crosstalk and harmonic distortion. Years of oscilloscope experience leads to improved pulse response and bandwidth flatness. The result is simple: when you probe a circuit, you can trust in the waveform you see on the screen.

Arbitrary waveform and function generator
All PicoScope 3400 quad–channel scopes have a built–in function generator (sine, square, triangle, DC level). As well as basic controls to set level, offset and frequency, more advanced controls allow you to sweep over a range of frequencies. Combined with the spectrum peak hold option this makes a powerful tool for testing amplifier and filter responses.
If you have a PicoScope 3404B, 3405B or 3406B you also have a built–in arbitrary waveform generator (AWG). The AWG can generate a waveform of almost any shape. You can create and edit waveforms for your AWG using the AWG editor, load them from a spreadsheet or import them from a previously captured oscilloscope waveform.

Advanced triggers
As well as the standard range of triggers found on all oscilloscopes, your PicoScope 3000 scope gives you a class–leading set of advanced triggers including pulse width, windowed and dropout triggers to help you capture the data you need.

Digital triggering
Most digital oscilloscopes sold today still use an analog trigger architecture based around comparators. This can cause time and amplitude errors that can not always be calibrated out. The use of comparators often limits the trigger sensitivity at high bandwidths and can also create a long trigger “re–arm” delay.
Since 1991 we have been pioneering the use of fully digital triggering using the actual digitised data. This reduces trigger errors and allows your oscilloscope to trigger on the smallest signals, even at the full bandwidth. Trigger levels and hysteresis can be set with great precision and resolution. Digital triggering also reduces re–arm delay and this combined with the segmented memory allows the triggering and capture of events that happen in rapid sequence. At the fastest timebase you can use rapid triggering to collect 10,000 waveforms in under 20 milliseconds. Our mask limit testing function can then scan through these waveforms to highlight any failed waveforms for viewing in the waveform buffer.

The benchtop oscilloscope that fits in your bag
Your PicoScope 3400 oscilloscope has the power to perform in many applications previously the domain of traditional benchtop oscilloscopes — from design and research, to education, service and repair. But, unlike benchtop oscilloscopes, your PicoScope need not be confined to your bench.
The small size and lightweight design of your PicoScope means that you can take it with you. Put it in your laptop bag and wherever you go you’ll have your own test and measurement lab. And — thanks to our FlexiPower system — you have the choice of powering your PicoScope either from the mains supply or from two USB ports, so if you need to use your PicoScope in the field you can.

Why pay more?
At Pico we don’t do “optional extras”. Other companies may think that you should pay for high–end features such as mask limit testing, serial decoding, advanced triggering, automatic measurements, math channels, XY mode, digital filtering and segmented memory.
